It's a Camo Thing

Top: Charity Shop (originally River Island), Jacket: George at Asda, Leggings: River Island, Boots: Zara

Camo has taken a backseat from the style stakes over the past couple years after it came out of nowhere in 2012/13 to be a massive hit, particularly in the festival season which is where my love for the print grew.

It took me a long time before I found the right camo print and the perfect style and shape jacket to suit my figure. I love how it is quite a bold statement piece but the muted, washed out fabric makes it much easier to wear and style on an everyday basis. Usually for me I style it to add a bit of life to all black outfits, as you will have noticed on a lot of my outfit posts, I don't like wearing a lot of colour.

This jacket would look super cute teaming it with a short summer white dress, black Chelsea boots and some red lippy (I might even give this a go myself when, or should I say if the weather picks back up again).

I'd love to hear your thoughts on camo?

Summer Lip Choices

My love for lipsticks has grown miraculously over the past couple of years, it could potentially be down to joining the blogging scene that I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone and switch my style up. Growing up I used to sneak into my sister’s make up collection or my mum’s and always went for the only lipstick they owned ... a deep red (who didn’t back then?) and boy did I hate it. The formulation used to be very different; it felt quite cakey, thick and was extremely drying but not anymore making me one happy girl!
As it is a product I don’t wear a lot of, whenever I do it always makes me feel like I have made more of an effort with my beauty look and make me feel that little bit more sophisticated and put together. I hope that I am not the only one when I write this or I might sound a little silly!!
For me, the summer months or days depending on which country you live in, are the perfect time to trial out new shades and products. As the weather changes from day to day, you can wear a darker more autumnal shade on the colder, rainy days and then when it is stifling hot rock that bright red lip.

These are the three key shades of lip colour that gets me through Summer.

Delicate Pinks

L-R: Rimmel Apocalips - 300 Out of this World, Mac Lustre Lipstick - Plink!, Rimmel - 006 Pink Blush, Mac Mineralize Rich - Elegant Accent

Most of the time when I am not brave enough to wear something as bright as a red on my lips I tend to reach for the brighter pinks that I know I can pull off without feeling uncomfortable and as though people are constantly staring at me.
There are sooooo many different bright pinks to choose from; however my all time favourite is the Mac lipstick in Plink! It is a beautiful natural glossy pink shade which I should have probably put into the neutral category but as it only gives a flush of colour on the lips it will go with whatever outfits you wear.

Bare Neutrals

L-R: PrimarkVelvet Lip Pencil - Nude, Tanya Burr Cosmetics - Just Peachy, Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Lacquer - Charm Offensive, Maybelline Colordrama- 210 Keep it Classy, Mac Lustre - Viva Glam V

These lip shades pretty much sum me up in a nutshell, I am fairly plain but have that added extra with a bit of gloss and shine!! My parents got me this Mac lipstick in Viva Glam V for my birthday and I am obsessed with it and have worn it pretty much every day since. It would not have been my usual shade to go for being a very deep pink with a strong brown undertone however it applies very different and is much more of a beautiful muted pink.
Can I just do a mahoosive shout out to Primark for creating a beautiful matte lip pencil which gives the Mac Velvet Teddy a run for its money. It is absolutely gorgeous, the consistency is very creamy and highly pigmented and extremely long lasting even when your supping cups of tea throughout the day. Team it with the lip liner in 'Nude' and for just £2 you cannot go wrong!! Plus they have a lot more shades I want to try out.

Summer Brights

L-R: Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil - Dragon Girl, Mac Velvetease Lip Pencil - Lover's Lane, Nars Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil - Mexican Rose, L'Oreal Paris Cheryl Cole - 297 Red Passion, Clinique Lipstick - Cherry Pop

I am completely flabbergasted that I am a fan of this shade, I mean go grab me a chair and a glass of water because this is just not me at all!! I much prefer the more brighter and blue toned reds rather than the deep, dark reds, they tend to suit my pale skin tone.

Even though I am not very daring on a day to day basis to rock these bold red and deep pink shades, these have to be my absolute favourite lip products I own. They are stunning and the perfect way to add a pop of colour to any make up look and even an outfit.

The Nars and Mac velvet lip pencils are my favourite to date, they are a little more pricier than the drugstore products but the quality are great. They are log lasting and by this I mean they can stain your lips for a couple of days but I kind of like having rose tinted lips.
These shades would look gorgeous when wearing a cute white dress, a straw floppy hat, gladiator sandals on a hot summers day especially if you have a day to night event. Now where is the sun??
