Lifestyle // Reflecting on 2016

Skirt: Primark, Shoes: Primark, Jumper: Primark, Lipstick: Nars

2016 has been a year of change and excitement for me, an awful lot has happened but in a very good way.

In January we realised that we wanted to make a huge commitment and the next big step in our life by joining the property ladder and getting ourselves a mortgage. Little did we know how tough the next six to seven months were going to be, I did not even realise how much solicitor's jargon I understood or should I say had to understand.

The endless amount of paper work, phone calls, headaches and stress was all worth it when we were handed the keys and took our first steps into our brand new home. Suddenly becoming an adult actually hit me - but playing house is fun!!

Little did we know that also in 2016 we would also be welcoming a little four legged cutie into our family. Lenny, the most adorable little pug who changed our lifestyle and made us a family of three. However, the small presents that are often left on the floor are not so much of a treat - oh the joys of puppy training.

It has been a fantastic experience, some stages I don't ever want to experience for a long time but I am so proud of what we have been able to achieve, it hasn't come easy we have put a lot of hard work into it which has helped me grow so much as a person.

Now onto blogging, I cannot believe it has been over three years now that I have had my space on the internet, it really is crazy how fast things fly. These past few months I have well and truly picked up the blogging bug and have a real passion for my photography and creating new posts. I cannot wait to continue the journey into the new year.

After all, who would have thought I would have pushed myself out of my comfort zone and not only wear embellished/embroidered clothing, but I love wearing a midi length pleated skirt!!

I hope 2016 has been a good year for you, I'd love to hear what you have achieved and are proud of!! I hope you all have a very happy and healthy new year!!

Lifestyle // Indulge in Festive Hot Chocolate

Oh I do love Christmas and what better way to get into the festive spirit than drinking and eating your whole body weight in delicious chocolate.

When it comes to the cold, crisp nights, snuggled on the settee with the fairy lights twinkling on the Christmas tree, your favourite Christmas film on the box and stuffing your face with the most delightful festive treats, I love to make myself a hot chocolate.

It cannot be any old hot chocolate, it has to the prettiest and most calorific hot chocolate (although I do think next year I could maybe add a few more calories in there). I'm not normally a fan of hot chocolate but for some reason on Christmas Eve, I do love a good sip of one in my favourite Christmas mug (there may even be a small tipple of Baileys in there too!).

I don't just make them with drinking chocolate, oh no, I have to make one with at least a full bag of chocolate orange segments, with sprinkled candy canes on top, along with a few more segments of chocolate orange and not forgetting whipped cream!! They are super easy to make, this one I added the chocolate segments to a pan of hot milk, I kept stirring and adding the segments until it was the perfect consistency - although it can never be too chocolaty!!!

The smaller hot chocolate was made with galaxy drinking chocolate which was mixed with boiling hot water from a kettle. I then added the whipped cream on top and dunked loads of my favourite brand of chocolate on top - Kinder! It was sooooo goood!!

Who else loves to indulge in delicious hot chocolate on Christmas Eve?

I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!

Fashion // All that Shimmers

Dress: George at Asda, Bag: River Island, Heels: Topshop

Hands down December is the best month, and it is perfect if you love to play dress up; any little girls dream. Not only do you have a number of works Christmas do's and Christmas day itself, there is also New Years Eve to look forward to.

All those sequins, frills, metallics and floaty fabrics - heart eyed emoji!! I have to admit that it has only been this year that I have enjoyed shopping for the party pieces, it all boils down to the gorgeous floaty metallic fabrics, they are simply stunning.

The high street have come up trumps this year, they have definitely upped their game with the party pieces, if you didn't look at the label you would have thought that they were high end beauties.

This midi dress is only from George at Asda and is only £16, yes you read the correctly, £16. It is absolutely beautiful, the fabric is so delicate and silky the choice of colours are just stunning, I love the colour block between quite a harsh black mixed into a very delicate silver.

What I love about this dress is that it is a very timely piece, it is perfect for New Years Eve but then you can save it for the wedding season (may I add it comes in a gorgeous pink too).

I'd love to hear who has been loving the metallic and midi trend this year? Let me know what products you have found, I feel like my wardrobe needs a little more sparkle!

Lifestyle // Last Minute Christmas Gift Guide

Soap & Glory Set: Boots, No7 Eye Duo: Boots, Rimmel Merry Little Mani: Boots - 3for2, Slippers: Primark, Nouveau Lashes: TK Maxx

Only one week left before Christmas is here, can you believe how fast this year has gone?

We all know what these seven days bring us, panic/stress/sleepless nights  as we haven't finished our Christmas shopping or we worry we have not bought enough. I'm here to help, it really doesn't have to be a dreaded week, it is a time to celebrate, have fun and spend time with family and friends. Enjoy the last few days of finding presents that will light up your loved ones face; after all it is the though that counts.

Small stocking gifts are the best things to pick up if you are unsure what to get someone.  There is nothing better than a cute pair of socks or slippers, they can be bought from pretty much any high street store.

How cute are these rabbit footsies as they are called in Primark, they are only £4 so they will not break the bank! You could win everyone over with these as they are super cute, cosy, soft and just so god damn adorable.

Don't feel embarrassed with taking advantage of Boots' 3for2 offers, they have a fantastic range of gifts for both men, women and children at affordable prices. It is not just toiletries that you can pick up, they have perfume, homewares and lots of accessories.

As I have rambled on in previous posts, do visit TK Maxx, I went in whilst doing my own Christmas shopping and bought quite a few bits for myself once again - I never learn!  Allow yourself time to search the shelves as they have hundreds of products, but you will find some fantastic hidden gems.

Another store you must visit is Lush, every girl would appreciate a gift from Lush! I know I would. It can be a little overwhelming if you are unsure what you are looking for but don't let that put you off, they have the most loveliest of staff and are there to help, so ask for advice.

Just remember, do not panic! You don't need to spend a lot, it is the thought that counts, have fun and add a gift in their for yourself :)

Good Luck

Fashion // Throwback to 19 Year Old Me

Leggings: River Island, Trainers: Converse, Shirt: Primark, Hoodie: H&M Mens, Jacket: H&M

Last week, I came across this very delicate checked shirt that I picked up from Primark in Selfridges at the Trafford Centre a couple of years ago hiding in my wardrobe.

One, Selfridges stock Primark? Two, they sell products you cannot find in other stores? Say What!

Immediately it took me back to my college and university days where I lived in leggings and baggy tops, very fashionable Alice. I was extremely self conscious and was a little (ok a lot) chubby, around the time that body image first started to be plastered across every single magazine and newspaper's front covers. I was only comfortable in wearing leggings and baggy tops which hid a multitude of sins, I needed to wear the dark oversized clothes to hide away. What 16-18 year old should be that self conscious? It is one of the most pinnacle points in your life where you turn from a teenager into an adult!

23 year-old me is a little embarrassed at the thought process in my head, I love clothes, I'm a tad obsessed and it might not be healthy but I am happy in myself! However, from time to time there is nothing better than going outside on a cold winters day with the comfiest and baggiest outfit on. I love mixing up my wardrobe with a masculine/tomboy look but playing around with adding a girly twist and in this case it was a bit of red lippy.

Fashion // Leather Skirt

Skirt: River Island, Denim Shirt: Topshop, Boots: Zara

I am absolutely obsessed with this look at the moment, especially my leather skirt, as soon as it gets to the weekend I just have to throw this on! My instagram must be filled with outfit shots of me rocking this outfit - how you are not bored of it is beyond me.

Since losing a bit of weight, I have loved wearing skirts a lot more, don't get me wrong I am still self conscious in a lot of stuff and most mornings results in around two to three outfit changes. The main result of my weightloss is dropping a dress size which is ahhhhmazing, however the downside of this means non of my fave clothes fit me anymore :( Luckily my mum is a fashion designer so I had a few of my clothes taken in for me including this leather skirt and it fits like a dream!!

Leather skirts are suitable for all occasions, you probably could get away with it for work but I've a feeling its a tad too short! Right now, it is my go to item in my wardrobe and I could not be any more happier with this beaut.

Fashion // Mixing Prints

Top: H&M, Scarf: Primark, Leather Jacket: H&M, Jeans: Tesco, Converse: Gifted

Can you believe this is one of three outfits posts I photographed at the weekend – yes you did hear that correctly, THREE!!

Major shout out to my mum who hobbled about after having an operation a week ago to ensure I got all the images I needed, there’s a big Christmas prezzy coming your way! It was the perfect winter’s day, very cold but the sky was so blue and it wasn’t raining for once, so obviously we had to take advantage of this by driving around different locations. However, getting changed in the car isn’t so glamorous...

My style is going downhill drastically and I am in dire need of sorting this out, all I seem to wear is the exact same outfits even though my wardrobe is about to collapse with the amount of items on there, yet I never seem to have anything to wear!

One biggie for me that I am building my confidence up to have an experiment with is mixing prints, it has got a lot more popular towards the back end of 2016 and I have a feeling that it is going to be one of the biggest trends of 2017. There have been some of the most beautiful outfit choices this past year that has included some gorgeous prints paired together.

If you want to have a dabble with this trend but not sure where to start, why not try pairing a simple tee with an outer garment, for me I picked out this monochrome striped tee and wore this with an oversized plaid scarf. I loved how the subdued dark tones of the scarf took centre stage whilst you got the hint of the monochrome stripes from under my leather jacket. It is not too overpowering which is perfect as I wanted it to be very subtle and understated for my first attempt.

When trialling out a new trend or if you are trying to break out of your comfort zone, you can slowly introduce things into your style. Anyone else had a go at mixing prints together?

Lifestyle // Little Talks is Three Years Old

I cannot believe my little space on the internet has turned three years old, how did this even happen? Where has all that time gone – three years, seriously?
I remember the 20-year old me sitting in my university room feeling a little bit miserable and needing something to take my mind off lectures and assignments; along came the idea of starting up my own blog. Even today, I find myself cringing over my first year of blog posts sometimes you have got to question what I was even thinking!
Little did I know that three years later, a few face lifts and a change of name from ‘Adventures of Wonderland’ to ‘Little Talks’ I would still be as much in love with blogging and creating exciting content to an even bigger audience.
Blogging has helped me come out of my shell so much more, yes I am still quite shy and get all embarrassed taking them outfit shots on the street but I have grown so much; although getting a full time job, a car, mortgage and a puppy kinda helped!!
I am so excited for what the future holds, there are so many fun ideas bubbling away in my head that I cannot wait to share with you. 2017 is going to be a fun year!!
