Lifestyle // A Tip for Christmas Shopping on a Budget

It is not even December yet and I am super excited for Christmas, I mean who isn't?

I'm going to hold my hands up and admit that I have not exactly planned any gifts guides as such (yes slap my wrists); one, being the fact that I am rubbish at coming up with interesting gifts to buy people and two... well there isn't really any other excuse.

However, I thought I would share with you a little tip to help you when you are out Christmas shopping and you need to stick to a budget. Or if you are like me and have to stick a few gifts in the basket for yourself too.

One store you may not think about venturing into is TK Maxx, they do some cracking adverts on TV but it is not a store that pops into mind when out shopping for others (this isn't a paid advert or sponsored post - I am just shocked at what I discovered). Who actually knew that they sell premium beauty brands and designer labels at a cut of the original price (it's actually correct, the TV ad doesn't lie!) I know, I know, I have been living under a rock all my life but this is a life saver when Christmas shopping.

If you are shopping for someone who loves the higher end brands but it isn't in your budget there really isn't any need to panic, do have a little gander in TK Maxx, you will be surprised. Just bear in mind that you need to have a bit of time to be able to rummage through everything to find those hidden gems. I found these beautiful Nars products in my local TK Maxx and immediately snapped them up straight away. However, the only downside is that they don't sell a lot of each product and once it is gone it is gone.

I hope that this helps you a little bit, if you are struggling!

Lifestyle // Stuck in a Bloggers Rut?

Coat: New Look, Skirt: Hollister, Top: Ivy Park - Topshop, Shoes: Next

Stuck in a bloggers rut? Yeah me too, and it seems to be oh so difficult to worm myself out of it!

The weird thing is, I have got so many ideas bubbling up in my head, but getting to write them down or take action on them is proving to be quite tricky. I just lose all focus and then another week has gone without any interesting and fun blog posts. Does this happen to anyone else?

Juggling a full time job, puppy, new house and a blog that I am trying to grow is very time consuming. I am well aware it does not have to be and sometimes excuses are probably the main issue here, we just need to tell ourselves it is ok to hit a brick wall (well metaphorically anyway) and time away is the best way to clear our heads.

For me, writing this post is key to get out of this rut and move on and produce content that I finally feel proud of again. I do feel like I have taken a giant leap the past couple of months with the quality of my outfit posts and have realised that this is my route to take going forward.

I just need to keep remembering that everyone is different and to stop comparing myself to others, it isn’t healthy and I must keep my own personality.

Sorry for bambling on and going off on a little rant, but I feel now I have shared this with you I can finally move forward!!

It would be great to hear how many other bloggers out there get like this and how often it happens?

Beauty // Finding that Perfect Foundation

I don’t know about you, but I struggle a hell of a lot when it comes to buying foundation.

Having extremely pale skin which tends to get oily as the day goes on, has a lot of redness and troubled, it can make it very difficult when trying to buy the right foundation.

My skin gets used to products far too easily which means I have to switch them up on a more regular occasion, more often than not, daily.

There are so many different brands and types of foundation out there it can be so overwhelming and the lighting in the shops do not help at all; I have fallen for that myself, I have bought something which I think is the perfect match then after stepping outside it is orange!!

I have got myself a strategy which I think could be very beneficial if you have similar skin to myself or you are just starting out in the foundation world. There are five key things to think about before even stepping out of your house.
  1. What coverage are you looking for? Full/Natural/Lightweight/heavy
  2. Do you want a more dewy complexion or matte, or maybe something in-between?
  3. What formula do you prefer? Silky/Mousse/Gel
  4. What undertone would suit your skin colour? Cooler blue undertones/warmer yellow/orange undertone?
  5. Is there a particular brand you really love or not a fan of?

Once you feel a little more certain what you would like, you are left with a smaller number of foundations to search for. I know that I prefer the heavier and matte look so I tend to just look for this description on the label, from this I look at the shades and see which suits my skin tone the best – don’t forget to step outside in the natural light to see what matches the best! Although I do like to switch it up and let my skin have a breather with lighter weight coverage.

It is trial and error, I have made major boobs in the past and I know I still will but hey you can go home and have a little chuckle over it. Don’t be too scared, your skin can change which means one foundation you might have liked a year ago might not work for you now, that’s perfectly ok! Still to this day, don’t think I have found THE foundation for me, but I guess it allows me to have a play around and try out different brands.

Good luck and I hope that these steps might help you!

Fashion // Delicate Pleats

Skirt: New Look, Jumper: Primark, Boots: Zara
This is an outfit post I never thought I would be ever sharing with you, yet it is the one I have been so excited to photograph and upload.

Midi length in any item of clothing whether dresses or skirts or even cropped trousers is something I wouldn’t ever reach out for. I absolutely love the look on everyone else, but an item of clothing finishing at shin length always makes me look short and stubby and it just isn’t a good look.

For some reason this particular skirt really caught my eye; the contrast of the delicate pleats and flowing fabric to the dark autumnal colours and animal print is what drew me in. I have recently been loving the trend of the midi pleated skirts paired with a chunky knit and ankle boots, obviously I have to be a sheep and try it out myself.

I am definitely tempted to steer from my comfort zone and find a few more midi skirts; the metallic ones are beautiful and perfect for Christmas.

Have you tried out this trend yet?

Fashion // Discovering the Peplum

Jumper: Zara, Jeans: River Island, Sunglasses: Primark, Boots: Zara

Zara is becoming my all time favourite store, they have so many beautiful pieces, I just wish I could own the whole store.

Last week I took a trip to the Trafford Centre and was so happy when I came across the brand new Zara and let me tell you it was mahoosive and oh so amazing; probably spent over an hour in their before trying anything on!!

This gorgeous gathered peplum jumper is my absolute fave of all the purchases I picked up that day. It isn't my usual style, having curves results in cropped tops and gathered items over exaggerating my shape and not in a good way either, for some reason this jumper is the perfect length and has the right amount of gathers to look flattering for my figure. I have fallen in love with the perfect contrasts of the navy jumper to the light blue shirt which creates the peplum, this is the perfect key piece to add to your wardrobe for the coming months.

I have teamed it with my skinny jeans and my new ankle boots also from Zara (I know, I know, I really did not need another pair to add to my collection). I'm already planning other ways to style this piece and cannot wait to wear it again!!

I'm currently experimenting with my backgrounds to see which I prefer, these images have come out a little more granier than I expected and not as crisp on certain laptops (bit strange). Please let me know which you prefer; the more industrial background or the more beautiful picturesque ones??

Fashion // Oversized Camo Scarf Styling

Scarf: Stradivarius, Jumper: Primark, Jeans: Next, Boots: Zara, Sunglasses: Primark

I am such a fan of the camo trend, but for me it can be very tricky to find the perfect camo print as some can be very tacky/ cheap or just not the right shades for me.

The one print that I have always been a huge fan of but don’t actually own enough in my life is camo; only owning two camo pieces probably doesn’t clarify how much I love this design!

More often than not it is quite masculine but a great print if you are after an edgier style. The subdued green and brown shades, which are both warm tones, give the print a more relaxed vibe and perfect for the autumn and winter seasons.

I do actually find it is one of the hardest prints to shop for and me being picky does not bode well – so that could be the reason why I only own two pieces in camo! If you don’t choose the right style, it can be a bit tacky and cheap which certainly isn’t the look I want to go for!!

So when this oversized scarf caught my eye when shopping on Tuesday, I knew I had to add this to my collection (I really didn’t need another scarf). I am over the moon with the way it looks and so excited to style it over the next couple of months.
